For me Ken embodied all that is worthy in a Mak’em man - dependable, genuine, hard working, devotedly faithful to his family - and to his football team. He was a quiet man (although not without opinions!) , easy to underestimate, never drawing attention to himself and always ready to help others. I shall remember him for his patience, his love for Pat and Graeme, his care for Nana, and his kindness to our son during our years in Sunderland - Thomas was always welcome at Mount Rd and always included in outings and treats. I am grateful for the events and celebrations we shared together with our sons, and for the memories of that last happy afternoon spent with Ken, Pat, Graeme and Jules just before the onset of the cruel cancer.
